A350XWB-900 Wing Box Structure
Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) were awarded the A350XWB wing box ribs and fuel diagrams contract as a Risk Sharing Partner (RSP) in June 2008 and subsequently awarded Sitec a contract as the design organization for this work package.
Sitec were responsible for taking the preliminary design concept and architecture for wing box ribs and fuel tank boundary diaphragms, achieving fixed design maturity, (PDR and CDR) including interface agreement with all other design teams and delivering the definition for manufacture of 41 major structural assemblies made up of over 300 individual components produced from Aluminium Lithium and Aluminium alloy for the A350XWB-900 MSN001.
The design team was also responsible for creation of installation definition adhering to the build team requirements at all times.
The stress analysis produced sizing of individual components based on global finite element analysis. For the analysis activity Sitec engaged Cabot design ltd, an organisation that specialise in the analysis of aircraft wing box structure. Sitec and Cabot have collaborated on a number of work packages involving Airbus wing structure.
Sitec continued supporting KAI with Design and Stress resource including delegated signatory approval MSN005, MSN017 and A350XWB-1000 activities.
