Job Description

Sitec Recruitment are currently recruiting for a prestigious FSTE 100 company who specialise in the Naval / Marine, Engineering and Support Services industry and are seeking several Welders to be based at their Ship Building facility in Appledore North Devon on a contract basis for an estimated 4 Months initially.

We are currently looking for welders to join our team at Babcock International Group, Appledore in North Devon.

The candidate will have: -
* Trained knowledge and experience in both MIG / MAG processes in various positions.
* Experience in the use of Flux-core and Solid Welding wires.
* Be competent to weld to BSEN ISO 9606-1.
* Worked with various metals and plate sizes of 5mm to 50mm.
* A good basic knowledge of Health & Safety awareness.

Previous Shipbuilding experience would be preferred but not essential.

Please note that those selected for a Final interview will be subject to a trade test.

Candidates will also need to have a good fitness level to meet with the demands of this particular role and therefore will be required to attend a medical appointment if selected.

Details of the trade test selected candidates will be expected to pass - Trade test would consist of a vertical butt weld on to a ceramic backing and a multi-pass overhead fillet weld, this would form an assessment to identify if the candidate was competent.

How long the weld tests are expected to take? - 2 hours

How long it will take to get the results? - Available on the day - these test plates would form 50% of the ISO 9606-1, so then when they start a further 2 tests will be required to be taken, all 4 test plates will then be sent to an independent test house and tested and evaluated to the required standard. The 50% should be sufficient to confirm competence.
