Sitec have an exciting opportunity for a Spares and Obsolescence Engineer for our client Marshall Aerospace in Cambridge. This is a contract position estimated duration is 12 months with an hourly rate that is negotiable, dependant on experience.

Job Title: Spares & Obsolescence Engineer

Purpose of Role:

Reporting to the Spares and Logistics Manager within the Customer Support Business Stream, to assist the Spares & Obsolescence Coordinator primarily with all aspects of Obsolescence Management, but also Spares Estimating and Pricing.

Key Responsibilities:

* Create and maintain obsolescence records, management services and reports as required by support contracts.
* Develop & /or assist in the development of project Obsolescence Management (OM) plans.
* Produce OM solutions:
- Proactively when possible in accordance with the OM plan
- Reactively when necessary.
* Ensure compliance with contracted OM deliverables in MLS CLS contracts.
* Liaise with Production Planning and Design staff to ensure on-time manufacturing in-line with Sales Order schedules.
* Liaise with suppliers on delivery schedules.
* Liaise with customers on delivery schedules.
* Assist Spares and Obsolescence Coordinator with costing of In-house manufactured parts - Materials and Labour
* Costing of ILS Recommended Spares Listings for Projects and Customer Tenders.
* Develop and action Obsolescence Management (OM) Plans for MLS products.
* Ensure compliance with contracted OM deliverables in MLS CLS contracts.
* Ensure KPIs on spares deliveries are met.
- Supplier and In-House delivery performance
- Customer liaison
* Undertake Military and Commercial price enquiries and tenders support
* Provide accurate estimating to ensure correct profitability for contracts and new business
As a secondary function:-

* Procure spares as required by contract, maintain appropriate records and effect storage & delivery using MRP Systems as required.
* Undertake Material control support
* Support Export & UK Logistics activities - Freight & Packing
* Purchase materials required for spares and customer support contracts.
* Expedite supplies and services for project deliveries when required.
* Ensure all engineering drawings are up to date issues prior to enquiries.
* Aid export documentation activities
* Perform Spares Sales in support of the Spares Team as required.

Competencies required to fulfil the role:

* High level of ability to create and manipulate Excel spreadsheets and Databases.

* Obsolescence management, product knowledge and business process awareness.

* Understanding of MRP systems.

* Engineering background. preferably in sheet metalwork, fabrication, electrical, paint and assembly processes.

* Able to interpret engineering drawings and understand bills of material.

* Good communications skills both verbal and written.

* 'Can do' demeanour and with excellent relationship building and sustaining skills.

* Proven commitment to delivering excellence.

* Commitment to playing a part in continuously improving a customer focussed 'learning organisation' culture.

* Able to be SC cleared.

Qualifications and experience

* To HNC or relevant experience

* Minimum of two years Obsolescence Management &/or ILS, spare parts sales, material control and purchasing, estimating.
