Job Description

Electrical Site Supervisor required by our nuclear MoD client in Berkshire.

Duration: Initially 12 months, working a standard 40 hour week.
Rate: Available upon request. Paying competively. Working a standard 80 hours over a nine day fortnight (Every second Friday is not worked).
Start date: ASAP but subject to gaining a security MoD clearance prior to starting. (This takes approx. 4 to 8 weeks to gain)

Key accountabilities:
*For monitoring daily work activities and reporting progress and issues of concern to the Construction Manager
*For ensuring that company management systems and processes are adhered to
*Ensure that all works are installed and executed in accordance with the contract documents
*When the company has the Principal Contractors responsibilities under Construction Design Manager (CDM), the Construction Site Supervisor (CSS) is to supervise onsite interfaces and coordinate tasks to alleviate both health and safety risks as well as unnecessary financial costs and delays to the project
*When a main contractor has the Principal Contractors responsibilities under CDM on company projects, the CSS role is to formally record and monitor progress and for ensuring that the required quality/workmanship standards are met

*To be proactively involved in supporting the Construction Manager throughout the duration of a project
*To maintain an accurately detailed daily site diary of site conditions, progress and the resources available to undertake the work activities throughout the construction phase
*To aid the early identification and notification of contract variances and adequately reporting such issues to the Construction Manager
*For providing Weekly Site Safety Inspection Report to the Safety Office for each project allocated to them
*For maintaining Quality Control and Test Inspection Plans (within their discipline) for the project
*Reporting to Construction Manager to ensure that works are carried out only when prevailing conditions are suitable and that site conditions are appropriate and will not affect the works being implemented, or that the conditions could endanger any individual.
*For promoting good practice of material sustainability (Reuse and/or Recycle) initiatives to reduce waste and save costs
*For ensuring that where applicable, contractor's operatives are competent, qualified and licensed to undertake their work activities correctly and that all plant and equipment used is tested, maintained and certified as specified
*Monitoring and recording specific or specialist deliveries to site to ensure that the condition of the load meets the standard and that the items are handled correctly, packaging is intact and that storage facilities are appropriate. Required protection is provided and correct handling techniques are applied at all times
*For undertaking all necessary checks to ensure that installed services and equipment can be reasonably and safely maintained
*For recording and reporting all defective materials and substandard quality/workmanship standards that do not meet the works specification/s
*Prepare and actively participate in the project hand over process and ensure that appropriate documental evidence is provided to the Construction Manager against a Construction Handover Check sheet

*NVQ Level 3 specifically for a supervisory role i.e. Construction Site Supervisor or Building Services Engineering Supervisor or can satisfy the relevant CSCS body that they are able to meet their minimum exemption qualifications.
*BTEC ONC/HNC/HND or equivalent standard in a construction related discipline.
*Registered CSCS (engineering services)/JIB ECS or SKILL card holder of a relevant supervisory Gold Card.
*IOSH Managing Safely (Construction) Certificate and/or CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme.
*Professional Membership within a building / construction related Professional Body.
*City and Guilds, electrical
*NVQ level 2 or 3 electrical engineering
*City and Guilds small commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems level 2,3 &4
*NEBOSH General / Construction Certificate

*Significant / relevant experience of supervising electrical related works
*Preferable construction experience working in a nuclear or regulated environment

*Must be able to assess information, evaluate solutions and devise appropriate course of action
*Able to understand and read construction issue drawings
*Understanding of electrical design submissions including technical specifications
*Must have good communication skills in both verbal and the use of written English language
*Must be computer literate in basic IT skills
*Must have good observational skills especially for Health, Safety and Quality issues
*Must have be able to provide detailed attention to appropriate design and workmanship
