Sitec are currently seeking a Safety Relief Engineer to join our clients on-site engineering team at Fawley Refinery and Chemical Plant. The largest refinery in the UK, Fawley is a combined refining, lubricants and chemicals manufacturing site in Hampshire.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Develop unit & flare Safety Relief Reviews (SRRs), which is an engineering evaluation of the safety systems that keep our process facilities safe performed in support of capital project development or consulting for a manufacturing site - Consult & provide TQA (Total Quality Assurance) of site-performed SRR work, including those developed by 3rd parties - Propose cost-effective mitigations for SRR findings - Participate in Risk Assessments with Process Safety & Risk - Support sites in maintaining evergreen Unit & Flare Models

BS degree required or equivalent experience. This is a job level 1 position: 1 to 10 years of related experience is required
Job Role Responsibility:
Perform pressure relief system analysis in support of project development * Deliver efficient and accurate Process Safety Pressure Protection Manager (PS PPM) studies and solutions * Assist sites with risk based decision making on the recommendations that result from the pressure relief studies Job Requirements: * Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Chemical Engineering * A minimum 3 years of previous experience in the oil, gas, or petrochemical industry * A minimum 1 years of previous experience performing contingency analysis with PS PPM * Previous academic and/or practical experience with flare modelling tools, such as, Pressure Protection Manager (PPM), Visual Flow / Visual Flare, and/or FlareNet * Strong oral and written communication skills and proven ability to influence other Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Solid understanding of Process Design fundamentals with respect to safety, including, overpressure scenario identification and PSV sizing via API 520/521 methodology; pipe sizing and hydraulic calculations; pipe pressure and temperature rating; control valve sizing; and heat exchanger rating * Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring technical teams * Fundamental understanding of distillation tower, pump and compressor operation and performance * Previous practical experience with a steady state process simulation tool, such as PROII or HYSYS * Experience in Process Safety and Risk fundamentals including Risk Assessments and HAZOPS * Direct experience working at oil and gas operating site
Scope of work
The Safety Relief Design Engineer provides daily technical support and guidance to the Fawley ExxonMobil Integrated Refinery and Chemical Plant Project Development Group. The position will administratively report to the Project Development Group at the Fawley ExxonMobil Integrated Refinery and Chemical Plant and receive technical guidance from ExxonMobil Research & Engineering Safety Relief Section
