Sitec has an exciting opportunity for a Project Support Assistant for our client Caterpillar in Shrewsbury. This is a contract role for an estimated 12 months.
The Project Support Assistant will be responsible for creating and maintaining project schedules (in the selected project management software) in a timely and complete manner, in order to satisfy project stakeholder needs, and facilitate delivering projects on time, to specification, and within budget.
Investments/Capital Projects: The project schedules managed by the Project Support Assistant total less than $10M in investment.
Personnel: The project schedules managed by the assistant include the work of over ten people.
The Project Support Assistant is responsible for using the selected project management software to manage overall project schedules and track activities for multiple specific projects.
Job responsibilities include the following:
v Support the development of master detailed project management schedules. The assistant will ensure that the schedules are entered accurately into the software, and work with the facilitator and the team to resolve any issues.
v Update the project management plans on a regular basis, providing update forms to team members and entering the updates into the software. This will include tracking progress, identifying potential problems early, and resolving problems with the team in a timely manner.
v Both when new schedules are created and when schedules are updated, the successful candidate will be responsible for resolving any logic errors in the schedule. The assistant will also take the lead in working with team members to eliminate negative float in schedules and work to a critical path which shows that the project can be delivered on time.
v Assist Project Manager with regular project Control Meetings. This could include providing project status information, conducting critical path analysis, identifying and communicating potential solutions.
v Responsible for creating the reporting metrics to demonstrate Project Control, providing reports to inform project stakeholders of project status and issues. These reports include standard reports defined by the NPI Programme Manager plus any customised reports that the project stakeholders request.
v Responsible for ensuring that the project schedules follow the processes, procedures, templates and coding structure as defined .in the site specific Quality Management System.
Background / Experience:
* Incumbent should have excellent communication, planning, organizing, analytical, interpersonal, and teaming skills.
* The Project Support Assistant should have a good understanding of the Caterpillar organization and its business processes is useful but not necessary.
