Job Description

Sitec are currently recruiting for a prestigious Engineering company who specialise in the Naval/Marine Engineering and Support Industry and are seeking a Nuclear Licensing and Safety Policy Manager to be based on Devonport Naval Dockyard Plymouth on a contract basis for an estimated 6 months initially.

Western Europe's largest naval base for more than three hundred years, engineers have been shaping the dockyard to ensure it supports the fleet and protects the nation. We need you to help continue this tradition, transforming, sustaining and improving Devonport to meet the demands of the Royal Navy for the next hundred years.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme, including Astute and Dreadnought class.
The Nuclear Licensing and Safety Policy Manager is accountable to the Head of Safety for development of a compliant and consistent Nuclear Facility Licensing Plan and technical advice on nuclear safety assessment methods and policy.

Main Purpose of the Nuclear Licensing and Safety Policy Manager Role:

Development and Management of Nuclear Facility Licensing / Authorisation Plans
Provision of technical advice on nuclear safety assessment methods and policy
Management of interfaces with DRDL Nuclease Safety Assurance process
Support consistent implement Babcock/DRDL Nuclear Safety Processes
Contribute to development of Nuclear Safety Processes & Standards
Manage ONR, DNSR & EA interface
Work with other Safety Managers, Chief Engineer function and Site Safety TA

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences for the Nuclear Licensing and Safety Policy Manager:

Nuclear Safety Analysis Process Management
Cat A Nuclear Safety Case Leadership
Expert in development and UK nuclear safety policy and methods
Nuclear Facility Licensing and/or Authorisation
Substantive experience of interaction with Nuclear Regulators
Transverse technical skills
Team Player
Management Skills
CEng Competencies

Qualifications required for The Nuclear Licensing and Safety Policy Manager Role:

STEM Degree
CEng (or equivalent)
The role will be in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. This may require you to meet enhanced security and regular screening checks.

Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain UK security clearance.
