Job Description

Sitec are currently looking to recruit a Network Specialist for a nuclear MoD establishment in Reading. This is a permanent position paying a salary of £31,030- £42,400 per annum including benefits.

Successful applicants will be required to be Security Cleared prior to appointment and must hold a British Passport and UK residency for the past 10 years or more to qualify.

* To support the Networks Technical Service Manager (TSM) in maintaining the operational status of, and maximising availability of, the Data and Voice communications infrastructure
* Escalation of significant network issues to the Networks TSM
* Maintain and promote high personal standards in Environment, Safety, Health, Security and Quality
* Support the implementation of Mission, Vision and Business Strategy
* Diagnose and follow through to resolution any network related issues, escalating to team members or other teams and vendors when required
* Undertake tasks assigned by the Networks TSM
* Understand and support System Road Maps
* Maintain Cryptographic devices in a secure environment

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Experience of working in a challenging and secure environment
* Experience of implementing, configuring and troubleshooting JUNIPER equipment, VLAN's, trunk and access ports and port sharing /port channels/aggregated Ethernet links
* Experience of implementing network security (dot1x, port security and network access controls) is essential
* Knowledge of encrypted WAN links
* Experience of working with various network monitoring tools, Netsight, Spectrum, Solarwinds would be advantageous
* Experience of installing equipment into Data Centre Environments, working with and implementing Data Centre Network designs and working within virtualised environments
* Good communicator (written and oral) with sound facilitation skills that can be related to colleagues of all levels
* Ability to operate under pressure and influence decisions
* Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to working with varying network equipment
* Technical investigation and problem solving skills
* Experience of producing high quality documentation and operational documents to support current and new network architecture

* JUNIPER Certification extremely advantageous
* Minimum 4 GCSE's or equivalent at grade C or above including Maths and English
* ONC/HNC in an IS/IT related subject, or relevant equivalent experience

* Willing and able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance necessary for the role
* Willing and able to undertake flexible working arrangements
* Willing and able to travel within the UK and abroad as necessary
