Job Description

Sitec are currently looking to recruit a Mechanical / Process Engineer for a private nuclear MoD establishment in Reading. The post is for an initial 6 month contract and is paying competitively on an hourly basis.

Job Purpose
Undertake and provide technical assistance and support to design tasks as allocated by Engineering Managers on a daily basis and deliver appropriate designs to agreed time and quality requirements

Key accountabilities
* Ensure Quality of Engineering in discipline and compliance with the appropriate Project Process
* Ensure that safety is integrated at all stages of engineering design and review
* Make appropriate input to preparation and review of design solutions, which fully comply with all applicable current Legislation, British Standards and AWE Design Standards to agreed time, cost and quality requirements
* Ensure compliance, in all activities undertaken, with Company safety, quality, environmental, security and health requirements

* Review design specification solutions which comply with specifications and user requirements; safety requirements;
* Legislation; British Standards; AWE Standards; Codes of Practice and good engineering principles to agreed time, cost and quality
* Use best practice in appointed discipline projects and services
* Contribute to integrated safety when reviewing or producing process drawings and engineering designs
* Participate in the assessment of designs and configuration changes in basic engineering systems

Key Experience
* Pressure Systems including PSSR4 and PED
* Pressure loss calculations
* P & ID checking and creation
* Multi-discipline interfacing
* Background in Piping Design and Pressure Systems
* Reviewing and checking design house deliverables

* A demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Mechanical/Process Engineering discipline topics, tools and techniques is required
* Knowledge of some of the processes involved in the nuclear industry would be highly advantageous

* Degree (or equivalent) in a Mechanical Engineering related subject (MEng or BEng)
* Holding, or actively pursuing Chartered Engineer status

Willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role
