Job Description

Exciting opportunity for an instrumentation Field Engineer to work with a blue chip multinational oil refining and chemical manufacturing company based at the Fawley Refinery, Hampshire.

Initial contract duration 18-24 months.

Starting Jan 19.

Rate available upon request. (Standard working week 37.5 but much more when in execution mode)

Objective of the role:

To lead the field construction on a variety of turnaround projects.

This job will involve leading field construction, via contracts and contractor resources. Candidates should have demonstrable experience as a Field Engineer or Construction Engineer with a background in the supervision of refinery and / or chemical plant construction projects. Candidates must have previous experience of a safety permit to work system.

Candidates should be comfortable with reviewing and understanding all types of specifications and drawings, and should have experience of quality control processes.

The role will include the following tasks, amongst others: Participate in construction planning and preparation reviews. To raise contracts and liaise with contractor supervision. To review and approve method statements and risk assessments. To ensure co-ordination of contractor interfaces to meet priorities and job preparation steps. To review and approve work permits. To review the work in progress to ensure safety. To review construction progress against plans. To review and approve contractor documentation such as day work and unit rate sheets, issue written instructions and sign for confirmation of verbal instructions. To maintain a diary of construction events and resources.
