Sitec has a requirement for an Engineering Technical Lead - Machine Group , for our client Perkins Engines

This role is a contract posiiton for an initial 12 months, and is based in Peterborough, and the max rate of pay will be up to £31.00 p/hr LTD

The Caterpillar Machine Engines team are Peterborough based and provide engines of 0.5 to 7.1 litres displacement to Caterpillar off-highway machine customers. The team manage all aspects of the Product Lifecycle as well as the technical and commercial relationship with the customers.

ROLE OVERVIEW
An opportunity has now arisen for an Engineering Technical Lead - Machine Group to deliver vertically integrated engine applications for enterprise customers with our Cat Machine Group customers. The role acts as single point of contact for all technical aspects with regard to new product introduction along with supporting the Customer with their machine development programmes.

You will manage the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology along with mentoring and coaching enterprise team members. This is a diverse role which will require working with counterparts at customer facilities while collaborating with Manufacturing and Technical teams across the globe.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
o Accountable within the Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) for engine selection and completion of projects on time and on cost
o Management of Application & Installation (A&I) requirements with the customer, leading to A&I sign off ahead of machine production start.
o Ownership of engine specification through product life cycle, managing changes through new option requests.
o Act as a member of the customer New Product Introduction team, becoming a trusted advisor on all engine technical issues.
o Hold IPSD Engineering to account and ensure they deliver on commitments and manage the relationships between IPSD and Customer engineering teams, throughout challenging NPI cycles and timelines
o Provide Cat Machine Voice of the Customer within IPSD and drive customer focused product design & development.
o Lead/Facilitate customer collaboration events such as product development workshops either in the UK or at customer machine plants.
o Mediate between IPSD and Customers to maximise enterprise value and ensure successful resolution of engine/machine integration issues
o Support CPI issues as a subject matter expert on machine installations and impact of CPI on Customer applications
o Stay abreast of new NPI issues and ensure that impact to customers is understood and communicated
o Produce and present Internal and external Stakeholder updates

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
o An Engineering qualification and/or suitable experience
o Previous experience of leading technical projects, with the ability to deliver on time and quality
o Experience in engine design or development with a good understanding of related technical processes.
o Strong negotiation and collaboration skills.
o Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.

Desired Qualifications:
o Previous 6 Sigma Black Belt experience.
o Understanding of APQP and its application to engine and component development.
o Previous experience of Application & Installation requirements.
o Understanding and experience in Engine or machine NPI programs
o Proven cross functional team Leadership skills gained while working in a large matrix organisation
