Job Description

Sitec has a requirement for an Engine Test Technician to work for our client Perkins Engines in Peterborough. This is an exciting opportunity to work within their modern test facility.

This is a contract role, initially for 12 months, the max rate of pay is up to £12.50 p/hr PAYE


OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
Our clients Global Engine Development (GED-UK) group, based at the Perkins Engines site in Peterborough, is part of Caterpillar Product Development Centre of Excellence (PDCOE). The group is dedicated to providing leadership in engine test and development solutions to Perkins Engines.

They are currently seeking to recruit a Test Technician to support our continued growth and market leadership in compact Diesel engines

The successful candidate will carry out research & development work on either current or new engines. The ability to work to engineer's instructions, carry out a range of test work, including fitting prototype parts to an engine and/or record and produce quality data is fundamental.


Required Skills:
* Mechanical/electrical experience on diesel engines, such as stripping & rebuilding along with an understanding of common rail fuel systems
* Good PC skills
* Engine test rig experience and/or technical/mechanical experience would provide a distinct advantage. Additional specific training will be given where required.

Applicants must be self-motivated with good team working skills and be willing to work shifts. Initiative and a positive attitude to change are also essential.


Qualifications:
City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Apprenticeship served in Motor Mechanics or equivalent qualifications


Working pattern:
Please note that initially workers will be working the core day shift, but may be required in future to be flexible and work different shift patterns.
