Job Description

Sitec are currently recruiting for our client - Perkins Engines - who have a role for an Electronics Technician. This is a contract role for 12 months, to be based at their site in Peterborough.

A strategic partner of the Industrial Power Systems Division of Caterpillar, Global Engine Development is responsible for the execution of engine development programs.

This role will support the Electronic Services in the Facilities Department of Global Engine Development UK. Reporting directly to the GED Facilities Team Leader, this position is based at the dedicated state of the art facility for performance development and product validation. This vacancy is a servicing and maintenance position, with emphasis on electronic and control systems knowledge and experience. The role will assist engineers in conducting technical investigations of current and future instrumentation, components and processes both in laboratory and field environments. Operating in a fast paced and professional technical environment, this role will provide an interesting variety of responsibilities and activities, with the opportunity to work both as part of a wider team and independently utilising initiative.

Key Responsibilities:
o Practical, hands-on responsibility for maintenance & servicing of various instrumentation & equipment
o Operating test equipment and conducting diagnostic investigations
o Panel building and validation
o Total Preventative Maintenance and calibration of electronic equipment
o Wiring harness build and TPM
o Modifications to facility plant/Test rigs and equipment
o Evaluating new products and processes alongside the engineers

Skills & Experience Required:
Essential
o Either Apprentice qualified in a technical apprenticeship with electrical/electronic bias or equivalent extensive industry experience
o Theoretical knowledge or experience of electronics and systems
o The capacity for continuous learning

Desirable
o Previous experience in calibrations of test equipment
o Knowledge of measurement systems and equipment, an understanding of possible errors within the measurement chain, this includes, (but is not exclusive to): Speed, Torque, Pressure and Temperature
