Job Description

Sitec are currently looking to recruit a Data Architect for a private nuclear MoD establishment in Reading. The post is for an initial 12 month contract and is paying competitively on an hourly basis.

This role is specifically to work within the newly formed Digitisation Programme Team. The team are at initial design phase and a key member of the Team will be the Data Architect; who will take ownership of the creation, alignment, standards, production and control of required Metadata across the Programme. Although a hands on role, the Data Architect must have the seniority and expertise to help lead this critical, and challenging, piece of work, gaining support and buy in across departments throughout the organisation once on site.

Skills/Expertise:
Must Have:
* Evidence and experience of leading and developing an enterprise organisation wide metadata approach, from a strategic and architecture level
* Must be able to influence, lead workshops, have excellent stakeholder management skills and be a great communicator.
* Be responsible for the definition and management of enterprise data and metadata.
* Work with senior management and data custodians to establish the customers data vision, and to create a culture that treats data as a cross-corporate asset.
* Identify and standardise the use and governance of information in support of the overall business strategy.
* Be the leader of the data models that support the provision of insights that help drive strategic and tactical business opportunity, and be a champion for a data-driven, decision-making culture.
* Define master data and metadata management policies, controls, and standards, including reference data.
* Lead the deployment and management of data quality monitoring systems.
* Identify new kinds, types and sources of data to drive business innovation throughout the organisation. Define processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data.
* Must be self-driven and highly motivated, enjoying working within a busy programme environment; with a track record of successfully completed data architecture projects.
* Must be hands on and take ownership.

Highly Desirable:
* Experience of working within a large, digitisation programme
* Experience of working within defence or government
* Knowledge of Dublin Core Metadata Element Set, Taxonomy, Folksonomy

Key Accountabilities:
* Work with Digitisation Programme, client Data Architect and interdependent projects to define metadata standards and the detailed analysis required to formulate an enterprise data strategy, data catalogue and metadata repository.
* Establish the customers data vision, and to create a culture that treats data as a cross-corporate asset.
* Identify and standardise the use and governance of information in support of the overall business strategy.
* Lead the deployment and management of data quality monitoring systems.
* Measure master data and reference data for compliance to policy, standards and conceptual models.
* Identify new kinds, types and sources of data to drive business innovation throughout the organisation. Define processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data.

Key Responsibilities:
* Defining enterprise metadata.
* Define master data and metadata management policies, controls, and standards, including reference data.
* Identify and standardise the use and governance of information in support of the overall business strategy.
* Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data.
* Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams.

Experience:
* Senior level data architect, with evidence of holding a lead Data Architect role, working within busy programme teams from project initiation. Experience of managing and working with large number of senior stakeholders within a programme environment, with a complex management matrix

Willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role
