Job Description

Sitec are currently looking to recruit a Craft Machinist Practitioner / Precision Engineer for a nuclear MoD establishment in Reading. The post is permanent and is paying competitively from £19,380 to £32,000 per annum depending on experience. Benefits include generous holiday entitlement and a workplace pension.

Successful applicants will be required to be Security Cleared prior to appointment and must hold a British Passport and UK residency for the past 10 years or more to qualify.

To undertake craft operations in the manufacture and development of productions and trials components within the Manufacturing Division

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities
* Accountable for the production of precision components that meet the required customer specification. This could be defined by sketches or engineering drawings and accompanied by route cards and/or process instructions
* Accountable for safety start up checks of plant and equipment, ensuring that these are documented as required
* Safe operation of machine tools and equipment

Key Responsibilities
* To ensure that I understand and apply my responsibilities with regard to the Company's Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
* Maintain a safe, clean and hygienic workplace
* Contribute to Task Reviewing, involving Customer liaison
* Design and manufacture tooling and fixtures as manufacturing aids (non SJTTE)

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Knowledge
* Health and Safety at Work act
* Ability to fully understand engineering drawings and/or sketches, and able to comprehend and follow written procedures and/or work instructions associated with the job
* Methodical Task Planning

Skills
* Ability to operate a full range of machine tools and equipment in a safe, secure and efficient manner
* Able to use hand tools

Experience
* Experienced in the use of machine tools in the production of precision components
* CNC operation and programming experience would be desirable

Qualifications
* NVQ level 3
* Qualified to City and Guilds Part II or Ordinary National Certificate
* To have served a recognised engineering apprenticeship

Special Requirements
* Willing and able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance necessary for the role
* Willing and able to be a Monitored Radiation Worker
* Willing and able to work in Radiation and Explosives areas
