Job Description

Sitec (a Belcan Company) is seeking two Commissioning Electrical Engineers for a contract role in Plymouth. This contract has an estimated end date of March 2021.

Devonport Royal Dockyard are currently seeking enthusiastic Commissioning Engineers in support of the UK Naval Nuclear Propulsion defueling programme.

To undertake and oversee the commissioning of a newly supplied and modified nuclear facilities, plant, systems and equipment that will be utilised to defuel Swiftsure and Trafalgar class Submarines in the Refitting Complex.

We are seeking Commissioning Engineers with electrical skills, part of a multi-disciplined team working shift work and overtime as required to meet the project milestones.

The main objective of the project is to commission a high integrity goliath crane.

A requirement to work at height and undergo harness training in support of this requirement is an essential requisite of the role.

The project scope will also require personnel to undertake work in a radiologically controlled areas so applicants must be radiologically trained or prepared to undergo this training.

Familiarity with the Variable Speed Drive and Programmable Logic Controller technologies would be desirable.


The Engineers will be responsible to safely inspect, test, calibrate and commission plant, systems and equipment in accordance with authorised documentation, carrying out fault diagnosis and proposing corrective solutions on a wide variety of electro-mechanical plant that includes but is not limited to:-

* High integrity goliath crane
* Travel and alignment system
* M&E Building services including HVAC
* Process Plant

Qualifications and skills
* BTEC level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
* Significant demonstrable commissioning experience preferably gained within a nuclear environment
* Strong understanding of own discipline
* Crane commissioning experience desirable

A Background that will allow UK Security to be obtained is essential and Security clearance will need to be obtained (by the client) before commencement of the role.
