Sitec are currently recruiting for a prestigious Engineering company who specialise in the Naval/Marine Engineering and Support Industry and are seeking several Class 2 Welders to be based at Devonport Dockyard on a contract basis for an estimated 6 months initially.
The role of the Welder is to:
*Undertake the structural alterations or build modules by following engineering drawings on naval surface ships and submarines.
*Competent to work within multi - trade teams to co - ordinate these structural alterations.
*Read drawings, interpret work instructions and perform the work to time, cost and quality.
*Ability to align, prepare the weld joint and then weld structural seam to a specified weld procedure. The thickness of the materials is typically 8mm-24mm.
*Ability to use basic gouge and edge preparation through grinding.
*Ability to use basic hand tools, guillotines, and band saws.
*Weld processes which are used in Babcock on MMA, MIG Flux-core and occasionally TIG in mainly carbon steel and stainless. The Welder must be tested at either Lloyds or EN287.
* Cleaning up of own work arising.
*Slinging duties as required.
*Any other task within the individual's competence as directed by the company.
Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain UK security clearance.
