Job Description

Sitec has a requirement for an Auto Electrician for our client based in Walsall. This is a contract role for an estimated 3 months, that will likely lead to going permanent staff with the business.

The rate of pay is up to £13.50 p/hr PAYE.

The Auto Electrician is responsible for the fit, repair, installing and for integrating enhanced electrical and electronic systems in motor vehicles.

The Auto Electrician will be expected to design and develop electrical solutions for vehicles. Fault finding and rectification.

* Read and interpret electrical wiring plans and diagrams
* Design electrical circuits and wiring diagrams.
* Modify electrical circuits, assess cable sizes and AMP capacity
* Vehicle Preparation and fitting of the electronics equipment
* Checking and testing of the wiring and vehicle parts
* Fault finding and rectification work*
* Loom building
* Crimping skills including coaxial connectors

*Note, that due to the clients environment, the type of 'fault finding' would be more traditional as apposed to computerised processes.

* Quality, HS&E compliance and external and internal audit findings
* Full compliance with stated processes and work instructions
* Quality Targets are met
* Consistently meets build targets and deadlines


Key experience:
* Previous experience of installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems in vehicles, including integration into vehicle OEM wiring systems
* Competence with diagnostic tools and basic programming software
* Checking and testing of the wiring and vehicle parts
* Knowledge and experience of electronic and electrical systems
* Experience of working with electric windows, mirrors, seats, tow bar electrics and air-conditioning desirable
* Customised LED or neon lighting kits, parking warning systems and reverse cameras desirable
* Knowledge of Quality & Environmental Standards

* Ability to build looms advantageous
* Ability to strip and reassemble vehicles would be desirable
* Knowledge of split charge systems desirable
* Knowledge of radio installation would be desirable
* Knowledge of modern electrical technology e.g. Canbus interfacing desirable
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to develop and maintain good internal relationships
* Ability to act as a credible representative of the company to external parties
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve desired results
* Experience of working in an automotive / engineering environment is desirable
* Knowledge of low voltage electrical systems essential
* Knowledge of 230V system desirable but not essential

* Educated to HNC/ HND standard or equivalent desirable
* 17th Edition Electrical Certificate desirable
* Demonstrable experience would be considered
