Delta Air Lines took contractual delivery of their first Airbus A350-900 in Toulouse, France. The aircraft, N501DN, is the first A350 XWB delivered to an airline in the United States.

The A350 XWB is the first Airbus aircraft with both fuselage and wing structures made primarily of carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer.

Sitec's Design and Stress teams supported Airbus with the Design and Integration of Systems and Components for the A530-900 Wing from Sitec's Engineering Design facility in Filton, Bristol.  The wings are produced at the Airbus Factory in Broughton.
