Sitec are currently looking to recruit a Technical Author / Writer for a nuclear MoD establishment in Reading. The post is for an estimated 12 month contract and is paying on an hourly basis up to £20-23.00.
Successful applicants will be required to be Security Cleared prior to appointment.
Job/Role Purpose
- To provide an effective Technical Authoring capability that will support and maintain the use of Corporate Information and Records Management processes and procedures to achieve Company objectives
- To support the management of the Quality Assurance and Control Information Management Centre (IMC) to ensure consistent and compliant Information and Records Management services across the business area. This will include information security and encompass the full lifecycle of all records in all formats and media
Key Accountabilities
- To promote a common professional approach in the production and maintenance of Corporate information
- To support the management of Technical Documentation across multi-discipline areas of the business
- To Maintain Portal Pages and wider organisation
- To support the Business Information and Knowledge Manager (BIKM)
- To provide a reliable, trusted information support service to the business area
- To maintain Information and Document Security Awareness levels throughout the business areas
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure that I understand and apply my responsibilities with regard to the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
- To provide Technical Authoring capability to multiple disciplines
- To maintain Project Delivery Quality Management Process and Engineering Guides and Standards databases to ensure owners are aware of review and retention schedules
- To maintain PDQMP Document Review process and Document Review Matrix
- To maintain Directorate / Corporate Portal pages
- To act as first point of contact for any enquiries or issues regarding Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Engineering Guides and Standards etc.
- The understanding and application of responsibilities with regard to the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
- To ensure compliance with client processes and procedures when creating new or reviewing existing information
Qualifications
- Computer literate in the use of Office applications
- A basic qualification in Technical Authorship is desirable
- A basic understanding of Information Management is desirable
Knowledge
- Knowledge of legal regulations relating to records management, e.g. Data Protection Act, Public Records Act etc.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional suite (to produce document templates etc.)
- Familiarity with online search techniques e.g. Web search tools
- An understanding of Quality Management Processes and familiarity with change control procedures
- An understanding of the document and records lifecycle from inception to disposition, including shared access and restricted access
