Job Description:

Sitec is looking for a Project Engineer with Marine/Naval experience for a contract role in Derby.

Role

As a Project Engineer you will be working within our Client’s Submarine Business Unit.  You will be part of a large team of Project Engineers responsible for delivering Work Packages on the Project/Programme Work Breakdown Structure.  This will include:

Providing budgetary, financial, planning, and contractual support.  You will be working with, and alongside, a specified Work Package Owner (WPO) in delivering the assigned scope of work for the particular allocated WBS areas

This role is customer-facing and will require with the client’s Technical Leads as well as external customers to achieve agreed deliverables. 

You will fully understand customer requirements and business opportunities and maintains effective customer interfaces.  Also maintain project plans and undertake regular internal and external reporting as required.

To achieve this you will:

  • Support the WPO in delivering the agreed scope of work
  • Be accountable for Cost, Schedule and Requirements for all assigned Work Packages including development activities, product supply and contractual deliverables
  • Be accountable for achieving a well defined programme, ensuring it meets schedule, specification, cost, and business case requirements expressed as objectives agreed with the Project Manager. This includes the application of key programme management processes and principles such as work breakdown structure application and both fiscal and schedule management.
  • Clarify customer requirements with the WPO and ensure the programme is managed within the existing Work Break Down Structure and to the agreed Budget.
  • Prepare and facilitate all Baseline Change Requests for the WPO and ensure the application of a consistent Change Management process that fulfils both Customer and Business requirements.
  • Prepare Monthly Project reports to include resourcing, financial control, cash forecasting, invoicing and EAC /Earned Value Management reports.
  • Support the WPO to interface with the OBU technical teams to understand and resolve any problems that may arise.
  • Apply Risk Management processes to include the identification, mitigation, management and monitoring of all associated Project Risks.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/abilities:

  • Have previous experience in a project role, including good project management skills, and the ability to work on their own initiative.  Excellent interpersonal skills is also required, along with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels
  • Have extensive problem solving experience and is able to construct business cases and proposals in order to meet any evolving customer and business need.
  • Action oriented; Customer focused;  Able to set priorities; Drives for results; Flexibility to deal with change; Strong interpersonal skills to work within a fast paced organization.
  • Working knowledge of Company Project Management and Financial Management tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint).
