Sitec are currently looking to recruit a Technical Author for a nuclear MoD establishment based in Reading. The position is for an estimated 12 month contract and is paying circa £35.00 - £40.00 on an hourly basis.

Rate - Up to £40.00per hourSuccessful applicants will be required to be Security Cleared prior to appointment.
Job/Role Purpose
Assist in the implementation of the Project by creation of technical documentation and providing support to the Senior Technical Author and Senior Project Manager.Key Accountabilities
* To support the generation of technical documentation
* To act as lead reviewer for document drafts, ensuring reviewer's comments are addressed and the review completed promptly
* Gathering information to include in documentation by consulting engineers, scientists and managers
* Drafting of Operations and Maintenance manuals, Work Instructions and Technical Reports
* Preparation of Training Material, Certifications and Letters of Appointment
* To generate meeting minutes from technical reviews and project planning meetings
* To ensure that all documentation is produced following the corporate Information Management and Control (IMC) processes and procedures
* To ensure that documentation is reviewed and issued promptly within project timescalesKey Responsibilities
* To support the Senior Technical Author and Senior Project Manager to provide a clear, consistent and auditable body of documentation
* To assist in the overall delivery of the project by the team
* To present the project and the company in a competent and professional manner in all interactions with organisations external to the project team
* To assist in the continuous improvement of safety and performanceKnowledge
* Techniques and practices in technical authorship
* Practical application of company safety, quality and security procedures
* Principles of best practice Project and Engineering Installation & Commissioning ProceduresExperience
* Experience of producing large volumes of documentation to a high standard, following a corporate style guide and working with document templates
* Experience of creating documentation for large and complex scientific or engineering facilities
* Experience of summarising complex technical meetings to produce clear minutes and actionsSkills
* Ability to write concise and effective English
* Familiar with Microsoft Word and the use of Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS)
* Flexible & pro-active approach to workload
* Effective planning and prioritisation of own work
* Ability to build effective internal working relationships
* Capable of maintaining effectiveness in a pressurised work environment
* Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications- Location:
